After years of offering Adam Driver a Marvel role, only for him to decline every time, Kevin Feige finally captured his white whale. Driver has officially joined the cast of Jake Schreier’s X-Men reboot, confirming weeks of online gossip. However, the rumors were slightly off-target.

Despite reports that Driver would take over the role of Magneto, Marvel zigged instead of zagged. The Oscar nominee will be playing a different, but still classic X-Men villain: Mister Sinister. Although, he did lean into the rumors by filming a gag video for D23 (below) where he teased the crap out of the crowd by saying he’s playing Magneto before correcting himself and saying he’s actually Nathaniel Milbury, a Sinister alias that Marvel fans immediately clocked.

With Driver back in the Disney fold, surely, this means good news for The Hunt for Ben Solo. The actor set the Star Wars world on fire last fall by revealing that Steven Soderbergh had pitched Lucasfilm a Kylo Ren movie that reportedly made it very close to happening before Bob Iger slammed the brakes.

Since then, a fan campaign has been pushing Lucasfilm to dust off the script and revive the project. For a brief moment, it seemed like there was a tiny spark of hope. Dave Filoni just snuffed that out.

Deadine caught up with Lucasfilm co-President and Mandalorian and Grogu co-writer and producer Dave Filoni at D23 and asked whether Kylo Ren would ever make a comeback.

“It’s not here, you won’t find it here,” said Filoni, “The force is not with us in that regard; I love the love you feel for it.”

Welp, so much for that. It’s not like Star Wars is rolling in Spider-Man money these days, and we’re a year out until Baby Goose gets a chance to see if the franchise still has gas in the tank.
