Hulu is adding to its original programming with the series Castle Rock. Stephen King fans will recognize the fictional town from it being the town where all of the terrifying and supernatural happenings occur. The Hulu series is taking all of the lore and events from the town’s history and interconnecting it into one giant tale of terror. It’s like a multiverse of the twisted mind of King, which is more interesting than most multiverses.

The cast boasts André Holland (Moonlight), Sissy Spacek, Melanie Lynsky, Jane Levy (Don’t Breathe), Bill SkarsgÃ¥rd, Terry O’Quinn, and Scott Glenn. Glenn will play recognizable King character Alan Pangborn, the retired sheriff of Castle Rock. Pangborn featured heavily in The Dark Half and Needful Things. The rest of the cast appear to be brand new characters created for the show.

Spacek, Lynsky, and SkarsgÃ¥rd are of course veterans of King adaptations, with Carrie, Rose Red, and IT respectively. Spacek is Ruth Deaver, the mother of Holland’s attorney character Henry. SkarsgÃ¥rd appears to be the Shawshank inmate that needs Henry’s assistance. Levy is Jackie, the town’s death and lore expert. O’Quinn plays Dale Lacy, an upstanding member of the Castle Rock community, which makes me think he probably kills women for fun and hides them in his basement. Lynsky is Molly Strand, a mentally unwell real estate agent in the town.

Castle Rock is executive produced by J.J. Abrams and will premiere on Hulu this summer with 10 episodes.
