Netflix

Sunday marks the return of The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale — only you won’t have to wait to watch these additional episodes on a weekly basis. That’s right: six new episodes, dropping all at once for full bingeing enjoyment to close out Season One! Watch them in a single sitting, then wait patiently to see if Netflix will give the guy a season two (they’d fucking better).

But if you’re in the mood for something a little more apocalyptic, Netflix also has a new movie called How It Ends (on the nose, but I like it). It stars Forest Whitaker as one tough daddy and Theo James as his not-so-tough son-in-law. I think the moral is “When trying to survive the end of the world, get someone more skilled with firearms than a lawyer.”

And I missed it last week, but if you’re a fan of Netflix’s spin on the classic Anne of Green Gables books, you’ll be happy to know that the second season of Anne with an E is streaming!

Amazon Prime

When I heard the title of their new original series Comicstaan, I’ll admit — I was expecting some comic book shit. Because “comic book shit” could describe almost every new movie or show that comes out these days (and I’m a sucker for all of it, so please don’t think that’s a complaint). But what I wasn’t expecting was for Comicstaan to be a reality competition show to crown the next best stand-up comedian in India. Or maybe it’s secretly based on a comic book about stand-up comedians in India?

Hulu

Look, I’m just waiting for fucking Castle Rock to land, but in the meantime I suppose the second season of Harlots will just have to do — now with more Liv Tyler!

Hulu has also added the complete second season of the FX series Better Things, which just earned star Pamela Adlon an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Actress in a Comedy. You know. Just in case you’re in the mood to catch up…
