Tomorrow: Your Favorite Movies
Thursday: Your Favorite TV Shows
Friday: The Favorite Five Overall Character Winners

After that, we’ll start making some real lists.

Now then, on to the matter at hand. Comic Books.

All you need in this life is ignorance.png

This is going to be the bestest comic book article ever! I just know it!

Honestly, I know nothing about comic books and I had to poll the rest of the Pajiba staff just to get a basic framework for how to roll this category out. I know a good deal about every other category, but this is a complete morass for me. So, rather than guess and humiliate myself further, I’m going to open up the floor to you guys.

Here’s the complete list. For every response I always tried to default back to the earliest appearance of a character, so unless someone said ‘Batman’ from The Dark Knight Rises movie” I would default to comics, where we first met that character.

Truthfully though, I think the complexity of the different series and things like the DC New 52 or whatever the hell that is may prove to be infuriating for the purists among you. Please take a deep breath and help me work with what we have.

In that we don’t have more detailed responses available, how would you decide a winner?

Who are the top 5?

Should we split ‘prestige’ comics from ‘newspaper’ comics?

Does ‘Calvin’ belong on the same list with Spider Jerusalem?

Does it make sense to default a character like ‘Deadpool’ into the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the movie isn’t out yet and everyone hated the shitty version in the Wolverine Origins disaster?

And even though a lot of the prestige stuff technically has the same publisher and universe or whatever, does it make sense to lump them all in to the larger Marvel and DC categories?

Is it right to list ‘Constantine’ as part of Constantine or would it feel more correct if he was part of Hellblazer?

I’m combining all the X-Men versions into one bigger Marvel pot, including Uncanny X-Men, New X-Men, etc. Do those characters deserve to be broken out into a smaller sub-category?

And what about the Manga stuff? Should that all have its own category?

Let’s see what you guys come up with. I’m not asking you to do my work for me. I’m begging you to do my work for you. Because I’m lost. What do you make of this?
