GIPHY has released a list of their 25 most popular GIFs of the year and oh boy, do they tell a story. It’s a story of a bullshit year, with a lot of pain. (#2)

But we’re strong. (#6)

And we don’t like having to pretend to take any of the nonsense this year has thrown our way. We will not suffer fools. (#4)

Only fools will suffer fools. (#5)

Not us. (#7)

But it’s not all darkness. We still found things to amaze us (#3),

—And to excite us. (#12)

We want to connect. (#14)

Badly. (#8)

And we do still have each other. (#18)

Even if there are, um, monsters. (#19)

Lots of monsters. (#15)

We want to feel fancy. (#23)

We want silliness. (#21)

And we want to eat our feelings. (#24)

So yes, we can still find joy in things, big and small. (#25)

And we can still laugh through our pain. (#11)

And the pain of others. (#16)

Okay, yes, we can always laugh at the pain of others. (#13)

But there’s no denying this year left a bad taste in our mouths. (#20)

And hopefully we haven’t given up the fight completely. (#9)

Although, sure, we may have checked out or shut down to some degree. (#10)

Yes, I suppose more than anything, we’re just done. (#22)

We’re over it. (#17)

We’re out. (#1)

Thanks, Obama.
