Volcano Shows Michael Bay How Shockwaves Are Done

We’ve all seen action movies where a massive explosion happens and the ensuing shockwave sends people and things flying into the air all over the place. It’s super dramatic, and also completely contrary to the laws of physics. Here’s a volcano explosion in Papua New Guinea to show us all how these things really go down.

The massive “boom!” is right on, but notice that all the ships affected by that shockwave managed to stay upright. There’s basically no real disruption to the water at all, and the camera briefly wobbles but clearly isn’t blown 10ft backwards. Way less destructive than what you see in movies but totally wicked all the same.
