The Depressing Decline of Minnie Driver's On-Screen Romances

Minnie Driver is an actress with a long and diverse career. This fall, she’ll be returning to TV again with her new sitcom Speechless. She plays the fierce mother of a young man with cerebral palsy. Her TV husband is played by John Ross Bowie who is perhaps best known for being the guy on The Big Bang Theory with a lisp. This guy:


I’m not saying he’s an especially bad looking guy for life, but for TV he’s definitely more of a “goofy friend” level of attractiveness to Minnie Driver’s leading lady looks. Now, in the real world people meet and marry and stay with each other for a lot of reasons entirely unrelated to physical appearance. But this is not real life, this is TV, and on TV I notice that those “unrelated to physical appearance” standards only seem to apply to women. So you get that guy, with this lady:

That is a collection of handsome men! Handsome men who have, by and large, continued to have beautiful costars cast alongside them even though they’ve been aging too! Lets take Damon, his last big role was The Martian which didn’t have any romance for him, but there was a project he was in recently where he WAS part of a romantic pairing. …OK, I guess Driver is coming out on the better side of that one.
