The Hadron Collider is “the world’s largest atom smasher.” It’s the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, and this weekend scientists turned it on for the first time in two years, following a major upgrade. Using this machine, scientists will hopefully be able to conduct experiments previously only possible through computer simulations. It’s an incredibly important and powerful machine.
BUT NO ONE CARES ABOUT THAT BECAUSE THE BBC ACCIDENTALLY CALLED IT A “HARDON COLLIDER” AND NOW THE WORLD IS MADE OF GIGGLES.
Of course Twitter exploded because we’re all children and apparently don’t even care who knows it anymore.
@ProfBrianCox so this is what you physicists are really trying to do! #largehardoncollider pic.twitter.com/3GFUjmp71c

BBC missed out on that headline. It's the LARGE Hardon Collider.
