Moore is best known for his role as James Bond. He played 007 in seven films, the longest serving James Bond (from 1973-1985) and the oldest, having retired at the age of 58. He’s also the first man who played James Bond to pass away. Moore also starred in a number of movies and television shows over the course of his career, including The Saint, Cannonball Run, and The Persuadables. Before playing Bond, he also replaced James Garner in the American series, Maverick.
In 1999, he was honored by the British government with the title Commander of the British Empire.
Moore is survived by his fourth wife, as well as three children.
