Honest Trailers Remind Us Of the Gem That Is 'Edge Of Tomorrow'

Ah, Doug Liman. Where have you gone, bro?! IMDb tells me that you’ve made some films after 2017’s American Made, but I don’t really believe that. Locked Down? Chaos Walking? These aren’t real films, are they, be serious. We need you back! Not so you can make things like Jumper again, of course—we’re thinking more in the direction of Edge of Tomorrow, the 2014 (holy sh*t!) sci-fi action movie and underrated gem starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt as two soldiers caught in a time loop while trying to repel an alien invasion. Edge of Tomorrow is damn good popcorn entertainment, the kind of film that makes an inspired choice on a tired Saturday night or a hungover Sunday morning. It breezes past with thrills and laughs and both Cruise and Blunt are in fine form. Honest Trailers have decided to revisit the film—I’m guessing in light of that other Tom Cruise film that’s in the cinemas right now—and they have nailed exactly why the movie is such a treat to watch: It’s basically a feature-length training montage! No wonder it’s so satisfying.

Well, that, and having the late, great Bill Paxton in it certainly does not hurt either.
