Four Adults Caught Stealing Thousands of Dollars Worth of LEGOs

Police in Phoenix, Arizona arrested four adults after catching them in an elaborate scheme to steal and then either resell or return expensive LEGO sets for cash. They would remove the anti-theft devices from the LEGO sets and hid them in gift bags or under other objects in their cart before taking them out of the store. It’s estimated that they stole somewhere in the neighborhood of $200,000 worth of LEGOs, which seems absurd unless you’re also someone who is routinely tempted by the large LEGO sets which can be astonishingly expensive.

While this is obviously a terrible crime, and the individuals should be brought to justice, I think some of us might be more sympathetic to their cause if they were stealing the LEGOs for their own personal use.
