The Directors Guild Awards were last night, as Awards Season rolls on. There a full list of winners over at Deadline but the big categories were names that will be familiar to Pajbans, as well as being fairly diverse. Alejandro G. Iñárritu won the Best Feature Film award for Birdman and Jill Soloway won Best Comedy Series for Transparent, specifically the “Best New Girl” episode. The winner for Best Dramatic Series was Lesli Linka Glatter for Homeland, “From A to B and Back Again. Ms.Glatter had previously won that category for the 2009 Mad Men episode “Guy Walks into an Advertising Agency.

Women also won the Movies for Television and Mini Series and Documentary categories, taken by Lisa Cholodenko for Olive Kitteridge and Laura Poitras for Citizenfour.

Awards season continues tonight with the Grammys, which will probably about half of their categories completely wrong.
