In Park City to promote Hunt for the Wilderpeople his Sundance entry, director Taika Waititi talked a little about what he’s doing with Thor: Ragnarok; specifically, he aims to make it funnier than The Dark World.
“I’ll take the second film and just add some jokes to that.”
Honestly, all the elements to make a funnier Thor film are already in his back pocket; with a fantastic cast — plus a couple of new additions — we could all be laughing it up. Hiddleston and Hemsworth have already proven their excellent comedic chemistry and they love goofing around together.
Adding extra humor to the next Thor installment is easy as vamPIrE:
I mean, you’re already there as director; the jokes will practically write themselves.
And you’re friends with a couple of hilariously funny dudes.
Just add them to the mix, and presto! Funnier Thor.
I’m also certain Cate Blanchett (rumored to be playing Asgardian goddess Hela) would love to ham it up a bit with the boys.
In a bit of related news, Hunt for the Wilderpeople’s Sam Neill joined Waititi for the conversation with The Wrap and is it just me, or are these two silver foxes too hot to be allowed in a room together?
The director convinced Neill to *try* recreating the Event Horizon paper scene, with mixed results.
Thor: Ragnarok also stars Jamie Alexander, and Mark Ruffalo in a not-so-hush-hush Hulk appearance. Geek.com says they have the whole backstory behind how Hulk is brought into Ragnarok, and they claim (I’ll white out for those who’d like to skip) ***POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING*** swipe to read: Thor will have to fight Hulk to get off Sakaar, more Major Spoilers at the source. The film is scheduled for a November 3, 2017 release.
