Will Free Tacos Make You Care About Baseball?

I was recently in the UK for almost 2 weeks, and as soon as I landed on American soil, I just wanted tacos. All the tacos. I did not crave a single taco while out of the country, but as soon as it was wheels down at LAX, one minute without a taco was a minute too long. Since I’ve been back in the country, I’ve had tacos at least four times, and if it weren’t for a raging cold that I caught, I’d have them again for dinner tonight.

I live in Los Angeles, I know what good tacos taste like. I also know what Taco Bell tastes like, and you know what? Those Doritos Locos tacos are legit, I don’t care what anyone thinks. Is Taco Bell authentic? Absolutely not. Is Taco Bell good? You know what? Yes. Yes it is

So with that in mind, if you like Taco Bell (or free food in general), you will be interested to know that they are once again giving away free Doritos Locos tacos (the best kind they have) on November 1st if a base is stolen during the World Series. A preliminary google search tells me that this all but guarantees us free tacos, as the only World Series where a base wasn’t stolen took place in 1944. For all other World Series? Stolen bases, friends.

Sure, there’s going to be that smug person in the comment who tells you Taco Bell isn’t “real” Mexican food, to which we will all collectively scratch our heads and say “no, duh!” Of course it’s not authentic, but look—it’s been created to taste good and appeal to as many people as possible. I’m ok with that. There’s room in the crazy mixed-up world for legit, authentic, good tacos, and Taco Bell tacos, which are also good!

I have no idea which teams are in the playoffs for the World Series. Hell, I barely know that the World Series is for baseball! I do know, however, that I will be setting an alarm for my phone to go off at 1:45 pm on November 1st, to queue up my order for a free Doritos Locos taco (nacho cheese flavored, because it’s the best) at 2 so that I can get a free taco, because this is America, baby!
