Following in the equally inexplicable footsteps of One Battle After Another, Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill re-release is getting the Fortnite treatment and on a surprisingly much larger scale.
Where One Battle After Another’s tie-in promotion was relatively tame, Tarantino is going whole hog. Not only did he show up at a red carpet premiere event with Uma Thurman in tow, but based on very limited information, it appears the Kill Bill collab is based on a missing chapter called “Yuki’s Revenge.”
As for what the heck that entails, no one seems to know at this point. Via Kotaku:
Although exactly what this event really was is peculiarly unclear, with outlets like The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline not even having articles about it. Have they filmed the scene? Will it be part of the new seven minute animated sequence that’s being added to the theatrical release of the movie double-bill? It’s all bewildering. We have, of course, reached out to Epic to try to find out more.
What is clear is that Thurman’s The Bride will appear in the game as a skin. She already popped up in the latest trailer for Fornite’s next live event, and man, I don’t know how I feel about seeing Beatrix Kiddo fighting Godzilla with X-Wings and Homer Simpson in the background. My mind is saying “dystopian” while my bones are saying “Early bird at Cracker Barrel?”
For some more fun, the “P**** Wagon” will also be a drivable vehicle because that’s the kind of reference that eight-year-olds will appreciate and their moms will surely love hearing about. If you’ll excuse me, I have some squirrels to yell at.
