Trailer: Dakota Johnson's 'Madame Web' Isn't Going to Revive the Superhero Genre

Despite all the superhero fatigue that has beset moviegoers of late, there’s one superhero that we never seem to tire of: Spider-Man! Madame Web is not Spider-Man, but she does come from the same universe. This universe will also see the release of Kraven the Hunter and the third Venom movie next year (Spider-universe fatigue will be the new MCU fatigue).

The trailer for Madame Web is reminiscent of Jared Leto’s Morbius. That’s not a compliment. Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney will not be able to save this one (nor can Adam Scott in a supporting role). The trailer is three minutes long. I started nodding off before it was over.

Madame Web comes from television director SJ Clarkson. The release date has moved around, but it’s now scheduled for February 14th, 2024.
