The theatrical summer movie season may not arrive this year, but if you have a big-ass TV and an air-conditioning in your home, you may be able to come close to replicating it with Old Guard, a Netflix sci-fi blockbuster starring Charlize Theron.
The film is about a covert team of immortal mercenaries who are suddenly exposed and must fight to keep their identity a secret just as an unexpected new member is discovered. And if Charlize is not a big enough draw, Gina Prince-Bythewood — of Love and Baskeetball fame — is the director. She’s fantastic, and this trailer is exactly our shit. A little sci-fi, a little Atomic Blonde, and the villains are not all brown people.
