Zachary Levi seems determined to sabotage his own career. His latest misstep involves following a Twitter page called “Gays Against Groomers,” which is a deceptive name for a far-right and anti-LGBTQ+ organization that protests gender-affirming care, Pride events, and more. This revelation adds transphobe to Levi’s already questionable resumé, which includes titles like anti-vaxxer and fan of Jordan Peterson (who made anti-trans comments about actor Elliot Page).

From his bizarre pleas for audiences to support Shazam 2, to his attempts to shift blame when the film failed, and his one-sided feud with Dwayne Johnson, Levi has had a turbulent year in the public eye. He has brought it upon himself; nobody forced him to express agreement with the notion that Pfizer, the maker of the Covid-19 vaccine, poses a significant threat to the world. He also willingly appeared on Joe Rogan’s podcast and praised Peterson’s “integrity.”

The news has launched yet another wave of discourse following the actor, with many sharing that this revelation isn’t surprising considering all we know of him. What’s been odd has been to see people who are using the news to make comparisons to the Worst Chris, with some saying that this latest development shows that Levi is who many people accuse Chris Pratt of being.

Um, no. Pratt may claim that he doesn’t regularly attend Hillsong and instead goes to Zoe Church. However, it’s important to note that Zoe Church is based on the model of Hillsong and part of the Hillsong family of churches. This means that Pratt is still part of a community where the teachings are against LGBTQ+ rights, so he falls into the same category of “not good” as Levi.

Pratt also may not be the brightest star, but his PR team likely exercises more oversight than Levi’s, whose career is slowly spiraling downward. Levi was consistently the weakest aspect of the first Shazam movie, and given the lack of interest in the second installment, it’s safe to assume the same held true there as well.

Levi is just another Hollywood white guy who feels entitled to a certain level of stardom and acclaim as he postures as the “nice guy” who just wants to hear every side. It’s bull. He supports openly transphobic accounts and individuals with wide-reaching platforms. He’s a joke who happens to be making himself the punchline on his own time. Irrelevancy is all we can hope for — and maybe in time, Pratt will follow suit.
