Tuesday was a big night for Shakira. The VMAs presented her with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and a Moon Man for Best Collaboration for “TQG”, a reggaeton duet with fellow Colombian singer-songwriter, Karol G. 46-year-old Shaki also treated us to a 10-minute medley of some of her biggest hits and a couple killer gowns. And she did it all with her sons in tow: 9-year-old Milan and 7-year-old Sasha.

Weirdly enough, it wasn’t Shakira’s kids who were nipping at her heels all night. Nope, that was Tiffany Haddish. Today, the Instagram account Now Wut posted a video of Tiffany screaming Shakira’s name while the singer ignores her. Here’s the footage:

That wasn’t the first time Tiffany tried getting Shakira’s attention. Earlier in the evening, the 43-year-old comedian repeatedly photobombed Shakira on the pink carpet (see header pic) and inside the venue while she was posing with her duet partner, Karol G. Man, I haven’t cringed so hard at a red carpet “look at me” stunt since Amy Schumer threw herself at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s feet at 2015’s Time 100 Gala. And that is saying something.

Obviously, this is Tiffany’s attempt at humor, but, in my opinion, she should have been on her very best behavior. It’s only been a year since she was accused of sexually abusing children for a wildly inappropriate “comedy” sketch with Aries Spears. Not to mention all the shit she got for her social media support of abusers like Jonathan Majors and Andrew Tate, being a COVID conspiracy theorist, and her 2022 DUI arrest (among other things). Hell, why was she even invited to the VMAs? Answer: MTV loves problematic assholes (see: last year, when they force-fed us Johnny Depp).

Tiffany’s career was on fire before those child abuse allegations. Now, the only project she’s got lined up for the future is Girls Trip 2 (Haunted Mansion, Back on the Strip and Season 2 of The Afterparty were all filmed before the abuse news broke). Which begs the question: does Tiffany think Shakira is a casting director? A Hollywood PR genius? Head of the Illuminati? Actually, none of those would surprise me. Shakira is the very definition of a Renaissance woman.
