Suki Waterhouse Calls Bradley Cooper's Feelings for Her in Her 20s 'Fetishisation'

Singer-songwriter, actress, and model Suki Waterhouse — who is currently engaged to Robert Pattinson, whom she has been dating since 2018 — is speaking out about her relationship with Bradley Cooper in this month’s British Vogue.

The couple has been separated for over a decade — Cooper, 48, is currently dating 29-year-old Gigi Hadid — but Waterhouse says it took her over a decade to resurface from the aftermath of that “isolating and disorienting” breakup.

“I really will say that I’m pretty strong at this point, but when something very public happens to you and the story behind it is dark and difficult, and you’re actually not doing well, and you can’t explain yourself to the world, that’s very isolating and disorientating,” she told the publication. “It probably has taken a decade to work myself out and actually be able to have this expansion in my life.”

That feels like a long time to be hung up on Bradley Cooper, although it’s clear that it’s not so much Cooper as the challenges of being in a relationship with a very public figure much older than her (Waterhouse was 21 at the time, while Cooper was 38).

“Your 20s are pretty sadistic. The love I experienced [then] was only ever a fetishisation, and I think when you only get loved in that way, you only get punished,” she told British Vogue. “When you get into your 30s you’re almost instantly afforded a little bit more respect. It’s kind of delightful and shocking at the same time.”

At least Waterhouse is using that newfound respect to date someone within her age demographic. Also, for what it’s worth, Waterhouse: Cooper’s Silver Linings Playbook era is far preferable to his self-indulgent Maestro era.
