Soderbergh Is Just Like Us; Here's Everything the Director Watched Last Year

Semi-retired (for now) film director Steven Soderbergh is an interesting guy, not just because of his movies; even though he’s ostensibly slowed down, Soderbergh is still a whirlwind of activity. From making ten episodes of The Knick for Cinemax, to editing other directors’ films, and from running a web site to giving speeches on the state of cinema…you have to wonder if he has any down time to read, or listen to music, or hang out with the wife to watch an episode of True Detective. Well, wonder no more. The director not only found time to watch, look and listen; he also compiled a list of all the things he watched, read and listened to (The Smiths!), and shared it with the world. And hey, he’s not so different from the rest of us — except, well, maybe me. I’m kind of exhausted just reading his list (which includes many of our own favorites; Jaws, Alien, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Louie, Mad Men, Black Mirror, Transparent, Key and Peele…). Behold, and admire a single man’s journey through 2014:

I’d personally like to smooch him for Altered States, repeated Jaws viewings, and having the sense to stop True Detective before the last episode.

Typical Cindy Davis, (Twitter) started something, and now she’s not too sure.
