For as long as she’s been famous 21-year-old Billie Eilish has been open about her body dysmorphia. She has spoken at length about her preference for baggy clothes for the way they hide her body, because if no one can see her body, they can’t comment on it.
But we live in a misogynist dystopia so, naturally, people still comment on it. Most recently it was rapper Lil Yachty, 26, who had a line in Drake’s song “Another Late Night.”
“She had big tits like Billie Eilish, but she couldn’t sing,” Lil Yachty raps.
But Eilish was okay with it this time, telling Variety, “I think it’s fun! I’m flattered! Yachty is my friend. Drake is my friend. It’s a joke. I do have big tits. I love it.” She even posted a screenshot of the lyrics in a recent Instagram post.
“I have big boobs. I’ve had big boobs since I was nine years old, and that’s just the way I am. That’s how I look,” she added. She also elaborated on her previous statements about her baggy clothes, explaining, “I wasn’t trying to have people not sexualize me, but I don’t want people to have access to my body, even visually. I wasn’t strong enough and secure enough to show it. If I had show it at the time, I would have been completely devasted if people had said anything.”
And while she now claims to be fine with comments like the one from her friend Yachty, she also said, “Nobody ever says a thing about men’s bodies. If you’re muscular, cool. If you’re not, cool. If you’re rail thin, cool. If you have a dad bod, cool. If you’d pudgy, love it! Everybody’s happy with it. You know why? Because girls are nice. They don’t give a f**k because we see people for who they are!”
I don’t know if that quite covers it, but her heart is in the right place.
Listen, she says she’s cool with her friends rapping about her tits, so I’m gonna let her have that. But if I were in a position to advise this young woman I would simply say this: that’s not a friend, babe.
