Outside of Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds may not always make the best movie choices, but he’s probably the best “brand” in Hollywood right now. He seems to know the formula for making a viral video (that also market his forthcoming projects), he managed to bring Rick Moranis out of retirement to shill for Reynolds’ wireless service, he sold his gin for more money than he’s probably made from every movie he’s ever made combined ($610 million), and he even uses a fake feud with Hugh Jackman to promote all of his projects.
Reynolds also now co-owns a football club in North Wales, Wrexham A.F.C., with It’s Always Sunny’s Rob McElhenney. Is Wrexham any good? Honestly, I have no idea. But I suspect it will be profitable because Reynolds has impeccable — and brilliantly unusual — marketing skills. Take this video, for instance, in which Reynolds bequeaths a Commemorative Urinal to McElhenney at Wrexham’s Racecourse.
As you know, I take birthdays very seriously. I’m excited to unveil the @RMcElhenney Commemorative Urinal at @Wrexham_AFC Racecourse. pic.twitter.com/iALHZ3Cu8C

I very much doubt that the video will score many goals, but I bet it will sell a few more tickets. Attendance at Wrexham games this year, in fact, is easily the best it’s been in a decade. It may also help that the team is also as good as it has been in a decade. I’m sure new ownership has something to do with that and the money that Reynolds’ social media presence brings has helped.
