Because there’s been no shortage of celebrity deaths in the past few days, basketball legend Dikembe Mutombo died on Monday at the young age of 58 after battling brain cancer. Before we get into Rob Schneider’s shenanigans, I want to make sure Mutombo is paid the proper respect, which I will pass over to President Barack Obama.
“Dikembe Mutombo was an incredible basketball player - one of the best shot blockers and defensive players of all time,” Obama wrote. “But he also inspired a generation of young people across Africa, and his work as the NBA’s first global ambassador changed the way athletes think about their impact off the court. Michelle and I are thinking of Dikembe’s family and everyone who knew and loved him.”

If you want to go about your day feeling good after seeing a touching tribute to an honorable man, now would be good time to barrel roll out of this post because we’re about to dive into some shit.
Rob Schneider has been on a tear recently: His daughter, Elle King, called him out for being an asshole father, he apologized on Tucker Carlson’s show — which she did not accept because it was on Tucker Carlson’s show — and even Republicans have been booing him off stage. Did this prompt Schneider to lean into the old “If I’m making everybody mad, I’m doing it right” adage? You bet. Very rarely is that the case. Very often it means you’re an asshole, and trust me, I know my own kind when I see them.
Schneider posted a tribute to Mutombo, and you’ll probably be surprised to learn that it fell short of the class and poise presented by President Obama.
“Rest in Peace…,” Schneider wrote. “I’m sure this is just (another) coincidence. But I took a pass on the Jab and I’m gonna not let anyone I know (and who will Listen) get it either!”

I’m sure this is just (another) coincidence.
But I took a pass on the Jab and I’m gonna not let anyone I know (and who will Listen) get it either! https://t.co/iVMOu9lTfr
Yup, that’s right. Rob Schneider used Dikembe Mutombo’s passing to rail against the COVID vaccine, which has been wildly effective and never once the cause of death that these nutjobs swear is felling celebrities. Christ, this one isn’t even in the ballpark. Brain cancer? What the hell, Adam Sandler’s best friend who still keeps getting invited on stage by Adam Sandler?
