Pete Davidson Leaves Profanity-Laced Voicemail for PETA

The Pete Davidson news cycle has been surprisingly quiet since the release of Bupkis. Probably because the news cycle is more interested in Davidson himself than his work.

That has changed this week. First, because he was on the red carpet for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (he voices Mirage in the film), where he admitted that he regrets buying a Staten Island ferry with Colin Jost. “I have no idea what’s going on with that thing,” Davidson, 29, told Entertainment Tonight. “Me and Colin were very stoned a year ago and bought a ferry. And we’re figuring it out.”

Then, a few days ago, PETA took Pete Davidson to task for buying a dog from a store instead of adopting from a shelter. Buying instead of adopting is the kind of thing that sends the woke moralists on social media into a frenzy. It turns out, however, that there was a reason Davidson bought a dog at a store, as he explained in a profanity-laced voicemail he left PETA, obtained by TMZ. In it, he said:

Hi, my name is Pete Davidson. This message is for Daphna. Thank you so much for making comments publicly that I didn’t adopt a dog. I just want to let you know I’m severely allergic to dogs so I have to get a specific breed. I’m only not allergic to cavapoos and those types of dogs, and my mom’s fucking dog who’s 2 years old died a week prior, and we’re all so sad, so I had to get a specific dog. So why don’t you do your research before you fuckin’ create news stories for people because you’re a boring tired [bleeped, unclear]. Fuck you and suck my dick!

“If Pete had done his research,” PETA told TMZ in response, “he would know that there’s no such thing as a hypoallergenic dog, that at least a quarter of dogs in shelters are purebreds, and that Petfinder has listings for homeless dogs of every breed under the sun, including the one he purchased.”

Oh.

Once Davidson learned that he could “adopt a specific hypoallergenic dog,” he put his sword down, telling TMZ that he did not know that was an option, while adding, “I haven’t seen my mom and sister cry like that in over 20 years. I was trying to cheer up my family. I was already upset that the store had filmed me without my permission or acknowledgment. Then this organization (PETA) made a public example of us, making our grieving situation worse. I am upset. It was a poor choice of words. I shouldn’t have said what I said, but I am not sorry for standing up for myself and my family.”
