Nicki Minaj Called Miley Cyrus a ‘Perdue Chicken’ Over Cardi B
Friends, this is the low stakes, dumb celebrity gossip I live for. It has it all: feuds, baffling insults, and third parties who wade in to give their two cents, when no change was asked for.
So what’s going on you might ask?
Miley Cyrus decided to wade into the choppy, murky waters of the Cardi B/Nicki Minaj feud. You’ll recall that Cardi and Nicki have been feuding for a bit now, culminating in a stand-off at the Harper’s Bazaar party in September, where she threw her shoe at Nicki Minaj. If you recall that, you’ll also recall that Miley has been low-level feuding with Nicki since 2015,when she said Nicki wasn’t nice in a New York Times interview, and Nicki in turn, called Miley out at the VMA awards that year by saying: “This b*tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press — Miley, what’s good?”
Anyway, Miley has a lyric in her new song “Cattitude” that goes: “I love you Nicki, but I listen to Cardi.”
Yes, I did fail to mention that RuPaul guests on this song because sometimes surprises are good, and also, the song is kind of terrible, so I figure you’ll get a good and bad surprise if you opt to listen to it. Life is a grab bag of mysteries, isn’t it?
Anyway, now you’re caught up on the backstory, so we can get to the main event: Nicki Minaj calling Miley Cyrus a “Perdue chicken.”
Nicki was on the Apple Beats 1 show Queen Radio, and the weirdest product placement put down happened. Per People:
“A Perdue chicken can never talk s— about queens,” Minaj said in response to a question about 26-year-old Cyrus. “But I do notice a lot of Perdue chickens recently have been trying to say the queen’s name for clout. And that’s always been happening.”
The rapper added: “That’s what [Cyrus] did in the first place. And then the white girl cried and made the black girl seem like she was a bad guy. In the first place, she disrespected me in a magazine article for no reason.”
There is nothing in life I love more than when someone takes a random, mundane object and turns it into an insult. “F*ck you, you stapler!” Granted calling someone a chicken isn’t a new insult, but it doesn’t seem like Nicki is calling Miley a coward here, it’s something else. She also added in the brand name, which was such a nice little touch of “huh?” that I personally really appreciate it. Imagine calling someone a “3M post-it note” derisively. I love it.
Anyway, Cardi B doesn’t seem to care about this newest development of who is feuding with Nicki Minaj, now. She’s too busy focusing on opening the BET awards tonight:
Sooo I’m opening the show today and my anxiety is killing me .Wish me luck guys .BET AWARDS— iamcardib (@iamcardib) June 23, 2019
The BET awards will take place the evening in Downtown Los Angeles, which means everyone needs to avoid that area this afternoon while the event is going on because traffic is going to be a mess, especially the 10. If you need to go cross town, I suggest you take Vermont as a substitute, but honestly, as with all award shows, Dodgers games, and other events, you may just want to stay home until it’s over.
