A few weeks ago, Adam Sandler joked with Howard Stern that if he didn’t get an Oscar nomination for his performance in Uncut Gems that he would “f*cking come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay.” He did not get an Oscar nomination. He didn’t even get a Golden Globe nomination. But he had a good sense of humor about it, anyway.
Bad news: Sandman gets no love from the Academy.

Good news: Sandman can stop wearing suits.
Congrats to all my friends who got nominated, especially Mama. pic.twitter.com/o1Ep3E7GRB
Meanwhile, he has gotten quite a collection of nominations (and even a few wins) from mostly critic societies. Two nights ago, he also managed to snag the win for Best Actor at the AARP The Magazine’s Movies for Grownups awards, which is a thing that airs on PBS, which actually makes perfect sense. Anyway, Sandler has been to a lot of awards show this season, and he is used to winners coming on stage after their names are announced.
