Billie Eilish Broke Up With a Boyfriend After Dreaming About Christian Bale

Amelia Dimoldenberg of “Chicken Shop Date” interviewed Billie Eilish at a recent event for Oscar nominees, and asked the singer if she’d written “Ocean Eyes” about fellow nominee Cillian Murphy.

“I probably wrote it about Cillian, yeah. Big fan of Cillian’s eyes in Dunkirk,” she said, then adding, “Batman is the one though.”

“Is that your favorite superhero?” Dimoldenberg asked. “Yeah?” Eilish responded, but she admitted she really doesn’t “know that much about superheroes” and just loves The Dark Knight, starring Christian Bale.

“A couple years ago I had a dream about Christian Bale and it was at a little cafe in the sunlight,” she confessed, piquing the interest of hopeless romantics everywhere, “And it made me realize that I had to break up with my boyfriend at the time.” Shock and awe from Dimoldenberg and Eilish’s brother and musical partner, Finneas O’Connell.

“No, like genuinely. I woke up and I came to my senses,” she said, reenacting waking up from a dream. “It’s over,” she realized. She didn’t disclose which boyfriend this was, but let’s be honest, if he isn’t taking you to a little cafe in the sunlight, he ain’t the one. Has modern romance really become so bleak that something as simple as a date at a little cafe in the sunlight is too much to ask—that we have to dream of it? Come to think of it: yes, yes it has. That very much tracks with my recent dating experiences.

Christian Bale has yet to comment, but God I hope he does.
