A year after being taken off the air by ABC and Good Morning America amid their scandalous relationship, Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes premiered their joint podcast today. On Amy and T.J., the two provided more details about their alleged affair in what is likely the only episode of the podcast listeners will be interested in hearing.

The biggest reveal in the podcast is that Robach and Holmes insisted they did not cheat on their respective spouses. “To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case,” Holmes claimed.

The two were both in divorce proceedings when their relationship was outed, Holmes insisted. Robach claimed that she had been estranged from her husband Andrew Shue for three months when her relationship with Holmes surfaced, while Holmes said that he’d been living separately from his wife since the summer of 2022.

What’s less clear is what prompted them to divorce their respective spouses at the same time, when reportedly their romance had begun months before while training together for the New York City marathon in March 2022. Just coincidence, huh? Nevertheless, their plan — they say — was to reveal to their ABC bosses that they were in a relationship in the new year, only after their divorces had been “cleaned up.” Alas, the world found out too soon.

Nevertheless, the two are in a good place now. “Relationships are hard, they’re messy, they’re not perfect. We have fought for love, and I can say I have never been happier. I am with my best friend,” Robach said on the podcast.

“Bottom line … I’m in love with this woman, and she’s in love with me, and we are planning a life together,” added Holmes, who had reportedly had several other relationships with co-workers before Amy Robach but while he was still married. Likewise, Andrew Shue and Amy Robach coincidentally left their previous spouses at the same time before those two got involved back in 2008.

Cheating happens. Marriages fall apart. Divorces happen. It’s all part of life. Just don’t pretend that an affair wasn’t part of the equation.
