A Celeb Feud Gets Weirder After Eric Andre Joins the Chet Hanks Birther Movement

Part of me is starting to wonder if the feud between Eric Andre and Chet Hanks ahead of Eric Andre’s prank show is itself a prank designed to promote the show, which launches its sixth season on Adult Swim in June. In an interview earlier this week, Andre called Chet Hanks “emotionally disturbed” for the way that he behaved on the set of his prank show, behavior that included giving him “psychotic notes” and dangerously riding a motorcycle around on the set.

Chet Hanks fired back, saying that he was just playing along with the show’s vibe and that Eric Andre was “shook” because he was scared of Hanks, which would be a natural response to sharing the same room with Chet Hanks. Hanks nevertheless took issue with Andre’s characterization on Instagram:

Here’s what happened with the Eric André shit. So Eric André invites me on his show. I had never seen it before, so I started watching episodes. I see that it’s, like, really on some, like, weird, like, outlandish, troll shit, so I’m like, “Alright, cool, I’ll match that energy.”’

“So I come on the show, and I’m on some super, like, outlandish f**king troll shit thinking that he would get it, you know what I mean?

‘At one point, he has a dude come and jump a dirt bike on the stage. Well, they must not have known that I ride dirt bikes ‘cause I put that shit up [and] start riding it around the set.

‘And everyone’s like, “No no no no! Don’t do that! You can get hurt!” I popped a little wheelie and put the bike down.

‘He must just not have liked that the fact I f**king outshined you on your own f**king show, and honestly, when I was on there, the dude seemed shook ‘cause when I came out and sat down, he seemed, like, genuinely nervous, like, just being around me, the dude seemed like f**king shook I don’t know what it was.”

‘There’s a lot of f**king g weirdos in Hollywood, and I think you are one of them,” he added. “I thought you were funny and cool, but it turns out you’re just a pu**y, dude. That’s what’s up.”

That’s what’s up! Andre’s joking response to it, however, was to go full #ChetHanksBirther. On Instagram, he fired back with a faux angry post of his own: “Everything Chet Hanks just said about me is a f**king bold-faced lie. He’s a f**king liar! And I dare him to take a f**king DNA test, and prove that Tom Hanks is his f**king father!”
