The Five Best Moments in 'Game of Thrones'' Season 4 Foreshadowing

If there’s anything just as fun as being an Ice and Fire reader watching Game of Thrones play out onscreen, it’s got to be watching my husband—who hasn’t read the series—see Game of Thrones play out onscreen. While I’m watching for how things come to life, I also find myself watching the mister’s reactions. I probably even miss some things the first time around, delighting in seeing his face when something like the Red Wedding happens. There are so many glorious happenings ahead of us, it sometimes feels like I’m watching a bunch of kids on an Easter Egg hunt; I may know what’s out there, but there’s such anticipatory joy in uncovering what Benioff and Weiss do with each treat.

I’m damned thankful they like to tease, and new footage aside, the little tidbits and answers the actors provided were positively delightful. Without further ado, here are the five best moments:

5. Kristian Nairn answering the question, “What was your most badass quote?” with “Well, hmm…there was that scene where he said, “Hodor—that was definitely a badass one.”

4. Rory McCann (The Hound) calling Joffrey “a little prick…a mummy’s boy, a bully—he’s got nice eyes!”

3. Jack Gleeson talking about how cool it is to play such a “hate-inspiring character. Just to get that reaction out of someone, it’s very satisfying. It’s nice to—yeah—make people hate me.”

2. Peter Dinklage revealing that he and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau “…tried to do a dance number walking down steps of the court.” Coster-Waldau: “We thought it was fun and the extras were all laughing and dancing…” Dinklage: “…but the crew were really tired and I don’t think they responded.”

1. Gwendoline Christie gleefully cackling as she exclaimed, “The most weird thing I’ve had to do this season is to bite off a man’s ear and spit it in his face!”

Just in case you missed it … or want to watch twelve more times:

Between that little dance and Christie's utter joy at having to bite someone's ear off, I thought this was the best. I haven't read the books, so I have no idea what's coming, and the idea that 'every episode is as full of drama as the next' makes me want it to start right now (or never, because I know I'm not ready for whatever they've got planned).

They are so delightful! When does it start? Can it be now?

  • Sara_Tonin00

Thank you! I needed this on a Monday morning, and I've temporarily cancelled my HBO.

  • Ian Fay

Gwendolyn Christie is just the best.

  • Laura

    Loved her obvious delight!

  • luthien26

She is! She's just delightful in all her interviews - seems like she'd be a lot of fun to work with.

  • Enrique del Castillo

Can we address how odd Bran is looking now? Last season he was just really tall, but now he looks very different. At least Carl in TWD is just tall for now.

  • Sara_Tonin00

He is growing into a lovely young lady.

  • BWeaves

    Puberty's a bitch.

I think the biggest problem is that he's quickly turning into Tiger Beat bait, and Bran is supposed to be much younger and broken. That said, if I was 12, I'd have his photos covering my bedroom walls.

  • Maddy

I'd rather address whatever the hot mess is that is going on with his hair. He seems like a nice kid, he doesn't deserve this.

  • Emily Smith

I swore quite loudly when I saw that for the first time. Next to that hair, his eyebrows look like they were drawn on with a sharpie.

  • Maddy

I'm not sure I like how much they're giving away about Tyrion in these things. I get that you have to show him, but maybe I'm overthinking how much viewers only get from these things. I love Gwendoline Christie so much. And I have the biggest fangirl crush on the Red Viper.

  • Dennis Albert Ramirez

my vote goes to the very brief shot of the now-pretty-damn-big dragon at the end

  • luthien26

THIS. Drogon is freakin' huge at the end there! (I thought he wasn't that big at first because of the forced perspective with the goat in the foreground. Then I saw the dude lying on the ground in front of Drogon. DAMN.)
