In Interview with Zach Galifianakis and Will Ferrell, Jon Hamm Schools Jon Stewart on The Daily Show

The Daily Show interviews are some of the best, and not because of Jon Stewart's interviewing skills, but often in spite of them. He's great with politicians and book authors, because he bothers with the research. But his celebrity interviews are often wacky, and typically don't bother covering whatever movie is being plugged. I am particularly fond of his interviews with Steve Carell, where they often just stare at each awkwardly other for five minutes. The fact that Stewart phones it in with celebrities is what makes those interviews as good as they are. They're better than most routine celeb interviews.

But last night, Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis came on to skewer the lame celebrity interview. "You got any more lame questions," Ferrell asks. "Maybe you should just prepare more next time," offers Galifianakis.

Stewart offers the ultimate rejoinder: "You want me to go Hamm on your ass?"

Enter Jon Hamm, who ultimately piles on Stewart.

"Enter Jon Hamm, who ultimately piles on Stewart." Dustin how, exactly, did you get a hold of my diary? Personal boundaries and private thoughts, sir. Wonderful, fantastically private thoughts. At least you didn't tell them the next part, where Tom Hardy comes in playing the part of the rugged and misunderstood cop, in an inappropriately tight uniform. He's tough yet tender guys, tough yet tender.

I like Hamm better than bacon.

I miss the Daily Show. When I lived in NYC I used to go to the tapings regularly. We knew the opening comic at the time, and he even got us backstage, so I have met John Stewart - turns out he grew up just a few blocks down from my neighborhood, but we went to different schools.

Tickets to see tapings of the show are constantly sold out now. Still free, but gone like delicious cupcakes.

I have been having an awful morning and seriously needed that bit of joy. Now I just need to get through the rest of the day "bringing the Hamm." (If only...)

  • "Should we do the Bob Dole?"

Maybe the best line of the 2012 campaign, or ever. Zach sets himself apart even in this quaint little crowd of funny.

This whole bit was nearly genius, but some of the execution was a little ham-fisted (yes, I went there).

  • I love how Hamm barely said a word and he's still better than the rest of them.

If anybody runs into a clip that's not from a clearly protectionist, Canadianist, and dickfacist site, kindly drop me a line. Damn the man, hack the planet!

Trivia from IMDb:"Became interested in acting in the first grade, when he was handpicked to play Winnie-the-Pooh. Received a scholarship to study
acting at the University of Missouri."

That is pretty impressive, getting a scholarship to University of Missouri right out of the first grade! Jon Hamm is pretty amazing.

  • TheOriginalMRod

    Wow. They do look alike!

And it was a delicious Hamm sandwich indeed.
