Many may recall that last season, Taylor Swift and Brittany Mahomes — the two most popular significant others in football (sorry, Hailee Steinfeld) — were frequently seen together, sharing the same booth while watching Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes play toward the Chiefs’ second consecutive Super Bowl victory.

However, as Kansas City bids to become the first NFL team ever to win the Super Bowl three years in a row, it’s likely lost a number of fans, Taylor Swift’s continued allegiance notwithstanding. During the offseason, the Chiefs’ kicker, Harrison Butker, shared his views on gender roles that are so appalling, people actually boo during fantasy football drafts when he’s selected.

Then there’s Brittany Mahomes, the wife of quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has suggested through her social media behavior that she’s not only a supporter of Donald Trump but also an advocate for the mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. This position seemingly clashes with that of Taylor Swift, who has not yet endorsed a presidential candidate this year but has expressed strong animus toward Donald Trump (and endorsed Joe Biden in 2020). Though we can’t know for sure, it probably did not sit well with Swift when Trump — who falsely suggested that Swifties supported him last month — thanked Brittany Mahomes for defending him two days ago on Truth Social.

“I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country,” he wrote.

This could explain why Brittany Mahomes - once a regular fixture in Taylor Swift’s booth — was in a separate booth, presumably booted from the Swift Suite. It could have been over political disagreements. Or it could have been that Brittany Mahomes is just generally messy.

The important thing, however, is that we get to wildly speculate about the personal lives of people we don’t know based on what are essentially seating arrangements. Thank you, Kamala!

The Chiefs, by the way, beat the Ravens 27-20 despite the efforts of the one guy everyone had on their fantasy benches, Isaiah Likely.
