In today’s round of “Why is a celebrity trending on Twitter,” our subject is Joe Keery. The Stranger Things star is not dead, has not contracted a horrible disease, and has not been canceled for saying something awful and dumb. He hasn’t given himself a quarantine haircut. It’s not his birthday (which was why British gift to the world Tim Curry was trending yesterday). Instead, he’s been hacked.

Around 4 AM Eastern Daylight Time, @joe_keery started sending strange tweets, many of which have been suspended by Twitter. However, some flabbergasted fans snagged screenshots.

Trigger warning: the following screenshots contain a racial slur and mention of sexual abuse.

An account called Aqua took credit, and urged people to follow a private Instagram account to see “leaked DM’s.”

In exchange for following the Insta account, Aqua—through Keery’s handle—promised to give fans of the ingendude a follow. Then, Aqua retweeted those who took advantage.

Here’s how others reacted to Keery’s Twitter being hacked.

As of writing this post, @joe_keery has not been suspended.
