Earlier today, director and writer James Gunn revealed the cast of his sequel to 2016’s Suicide Squad, called The Suicide Squad.

Obviously we already know Margot Robbie is Harley Quinn, Viola Davis is Amanda Waller, Joel Kinnaman is Rick Flagg, and Jai Courtney is Captain Boomerang. Other than that, Gunn has remained tight-lipped about who Idris Elba will play, although he did say it was not Deadshot and rumors are he is Bronze Tiger. We can see that Karen Fukuhara is not returning as Katana and Jared Leto’s Joker isn’t a good bet either. June Moon/Enchantress is off the table as well, with Cara Delevingne’s name missing.

We don’t know who the newcomers are playing, but we do recognize the names. Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live and Big Dick Energy fame is rumored to have a small part in the flick but no word on former Doctor Who Peter Capaldi’s role. John Cena is possibly The Peacemaker. Sean Gunn in the mix might mean a CGI character joins the team and Taika Waititi is going to be interesting in some offbeat role (I HOPE). Waititi isn’t the only actor from Marvel with a role in Gunn’s Squad, as Michael Rooker (Mary Poppins) is in the flick too.

David Dastmalchian played Kurt in Ant-Man and the Wasp and is supposedly the Polka-Dot Man. Nathan Fillion had a small part in Guardians of the Galaxy as a prison bully that got Groot’s twigs to the nose. Alice Braga is in Fox’s unreleased Marvel movie The New Mutants. Steve Agee, rumored to be King Shark, appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Other names are less familiar. Mayling Ng was last seen in Wonder Woman and rumored to be Orana, just as she was named in the previous DC film. Flula Borg is a German YouTube personality? Juan Diego Botto is a Argentine-Spanish actor last seen in Good Behavior, a TNT series. A younger Storm Reid played Meg Murray in A Wrinkle In Time and is supposedly Bronze Tiger’s daughter. Tinashe Kajese appeared in The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks. Daniela Melchior has not appeared in an English language film before and is rumored to be Ratcatcher. Jennifer Holland appeared in Gunn’s Brightburn.

This is a huge cast of characters and not a ton of names people recognize immediately. It will be interesting to see what Gunn does with the franchise when it hits theaters next year.
