CHILLS! This Surveillance Video May Have Caught A Ghost On Tape
Ireland is a land of rich lore, full of faeries, leprechauns, and changelings. But there are ghost tales too. And this one comes from the hearts of a Cork City high school.
It was just after 3AM on October 1st when the quiet of Deerpark C.B.S’s halls was shattered with the sound of a slamming door. More curious and menacing moments would follow, all of them recorded by the school’s surveillance cameras. But what’s not caught on tape is the someone or something that tromped down the hall, rattling lockers, throwing papers, and kicking down a caution sign.
Watch the video that’s got more than 11 million views, and waged a debate over whether this is proof of paranormal activity or just a masterful high school prank. Be sure to watch it with your volume on to get the full impact.
Deerpark deputy principal Aaron Wolfe understands why some believe the video is a hoax, telling TODAY, “If it is a prank, it’s very well done!” He continued, “People have suggested that we’ve used a green screen, or edited someone out.’ I wish our school had these types of resources. Others have suggested that fishing line is used. I don’t see how fishing line could open the locker because the locker doors don’t stay closed unless the latch on it is turned.”
Wolfe’s new to the school, but shared that faculty and students have long claimed it to be haunted. “Our caretaker has worked in the school for over 30 years; he recalls many stories of ‘paranormal activity,’” Wolfe told Unilad, going on to recount how strange sobbing and flashing lights had been reported after dark, along with one particularly strange incident.
For example on one occasion the school was hosting an exotic bird show, and the birds arrived the day before, because the organisers were worried that someone might break in and steal the birds, someone had to stay overnight.
That person left the school in the middle of the night - they refused to stay any longer as they said that they heard ‘the last call’ being played on a trumpet - of course this could have just been the wind?!
While Wolfe seems mostly bemused by the video and all the attention it’s garnering, believers in the paranormal are quick to point out that 3AM-4AM is the “witching hour,” and that the land where Deerpark lies may well be haunted. Built in 1852 on an ominous plot of land called Gallows Green, the school was erected where untold criminals met their demises at the end of a hangman’s noose.
So what say you? Is this a clever prank by a Halloween-loving teen? Or does a wrathful spirit wander the halls of Deerpark High at night? Sound off in the comments.
