Whitney Cummings Joins 'The Daily Show' To Talk about the 2028 Dem Candidates

Look: The last thing any of us want right now, during a period in which a good 65 to 70 percent of the country seems united against this Administration, is infighting among Democrats. I have zero appetite for it. Even here in Maine, where there is a hotly contested Democratic primary between two very different, flawed candidates, my attitude is simple: You vote for your candidate. I will vote for mine. No hard feelings, as long as we can both unite behind the winner, because we cannot go through another six years of Susan Collins’ performative “concern.”

But you know what I am not thinking about right now? The 2028 election. I am certainly not trying to sort through Democratic options for an election that is nearly three years away. I am mostly interested in ensuring that there is a 2028 election at all, because it increasingly feels like efforts are underway to undermine the 2026 election.

All of which is to say: Whitney Cummings, who took a lot of heat last week for sparring with Miss Rachel, picked exactly the wrong moment to make her debut as a contributor on The Daily Show by focusing on the supposed flaws of potential 2028 Democratic candidates. Granted, her underlying point is that there is no perfect candidate and that we will have to accept imperfections to avoid a President Stephen Miller. But she also immediately pivots to cataloging those flaws.

I do not care. If the 2028 election comes down to any Republican versus a literal potato, I will bring my butter and bacon bits and proudly vote for Potato 2028.

Here is Whitney Cummings, inexplicably discussing the 2028 Democratic primary, because her timing is impeccable.
