What's the Deal with Vince Gilligan and Rhea Seehorn's New Series, Working Title 'Wycaro'?

First announced in 2022, Vince Gilligan is reteaming with his Better Call Saul actress, Rhea Seehorn, for a new Apple TV+ series, which currently has a working title of Wycaro. Apple TV+ gave it a two-season commitment.

In the nearly two years since the announcement, little has been revealed about the series. But here’s what we do know: Polish actress Karolina Wydra (Europa Report) has been cast alongside Seehorn. The show’s working title may be related to her last name. However, Sony also has reportedly filed a trademark for the title Wycaro, so it could end up being the show’s official name. Karan Soni may have also been cast, based on casting for a stand-in for Soni.

Meanwhile, in January of this year, during awards season, Seehorn revealed that, though she’s not allowed to say anything, she reaffirmed Gilligan’s public statement that it is a “sci-fi element,” but that it’s more psychological than “full space.” Gilligan has cited The Twilight Zone as an influence on the series. “And he wrote it for me — which is hard to say without crying,” Seehorn noted. “And we will shoot in Albuquerque, with a lot of the same crew.”

Shooting on the series began in Albuquerque in February; Seehorn began shooting at the end of that month. In the series, Seehorn reportedly sports a much shorter haircut that we’re accustomed to seeing.

“I guess the only other thing I’m allowed to say,” Seehorn told THR, “is that in his genius way, even when you’re reading the scripts — I’ve read three — every time you think you know what story or what genre this is, he takes a turn. He keeps taking a turn. It’s amazing writing.”

That’s all the information available so far because Gilligan keeps it locked down. Given the shooting schedule, I would expect the series to premiere in the spring of 2025, ahead of the Emmy eligibility window.
