There's a Norm Macdonald Trailer. That's All You Need to Know

My kid is 19, and he loves Norm Macdonald. He was only 15 when Norm died, and Norm’s heyday was a solid 30 years before my kid was born, but he is constantly showing me clips of him. There is something timeless about his humor — it’s esoteric, smart, weird, and always feels just a little bit dangerous. He’s a comic’s comic, but he’s also every nerd’s favorite stand-up because he had a real knack for finding the hilarious core in things everyone else completely overlooked. And hell, underneath all those layers of irony and nonsense, there was a surprisingly huge heart.

It’s hard not to love Norm Macdonald, and I’m honestly surprised it’s taken this long for a proper documentary about him. Judd Apatow feels like the perfect guy for the job. Apatow — who loves a comic’s comic (see: Garry Shandling, Maria Bamford) — directs Norm: The Tale of Norm Macdonald, and the trailer may well be the best two and a half minutes of your day. Unless, of course, you’re having an incredible day that involves a fancy dinner, or you plan to crash right after work and bed-rot for three hours uninterrupted. Honestly, that sounds pretty great, too.

But not as great as Norm: The Tale of Norm Macdonald.
