After not attending the funeral of Barbara Bush earlier this year, Donald Trump decided to maintain decorum and attend that of George H.W. Bush yesterday, but only after the Bush family assured him that he would not be a criticized during the funeral. And he wasn’t, and yet he was. Because it’s difficult not to draw contrasts in your own mind when eulogizers speak of a President’s honesty, integrity, and reputation for not blaming others.
At any rate, last night, Stephen Colbert cataloged some of the indirect insults thrown at Trump during the funeral, and for those like myself who didn’t watch, it’s hard to miss the slights.
Also, someone in the comments asked yesterday who the guy was behind Trump who looked like he wanted to kick his ass. That was former Vice President Dan Quayle, who was ridiculed for four years because he misspelled “Potato.” God, how far we’ve fallen.
Ha. I worked for Dan Quayle. I know Dan Quayle. Dan Quayle is a friend of mine. I'm not going to say you're wrong. https://t.co/Cp53LVp8WH
