OK, don’t lie: When you saw the headline, you thought America’s Funniest Videos, right? Did you know that America’s Funniest Home Videos has been running since 1989, and that it still gets decent ratings for ABC? It’s true. However, Tom Bergeron hasn’t hosted it in six years, although he did host for nearly 15 years. Alfonso Ribeiro has been the host for the last 5 years.

Only in America is there a show that has been on for 30 years that celebrates the stupidity of our nation!

In any respect, that has nothing with the show that Tom Bergeron was fired from yesterday. He and Erin Andrews were canned from Dancing with the Stars after 15 years and 6 years, respectively. Bergeron broke the news on Twitter:

This is also my first foray onto Tom Bergeron Twitter. It’s exactly how you’d imagine!

He’s a lot more political than I imagined. Maybe that’s why he got canned?

Officially, however, ABC simply didn’t pick up his option, releasing a statement saying that, “As we embark on a new creative direction, he departs the show with our sincerest thanks and gratitude for his trademark wit and charm that helped make this show a success.”

Meanwhile, Erin Andrews bids farewell, too.

What new direction could the show possibly be taking? It’s dancing with D-list celebrities. Are they going to put masks on them next season? They’re not seriously trying to make a season this year, are they?
