I am old enough to remember when there were six channels and one television season that began in September and ended in June. It’s been quite some time since then, but I’m not sure I’ll ever fully understand when shows start, end, launch, or stream. All of that to say, hey, here are some trailers for returning series!
Hacks is back for Season 3 on MAX. Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder lead the cast which also includes Carl Clemons-Hopkins, Christopher McDonald, Rose Abdoo, Mark Indelicato, Kaitlin Olson, Lorenza Izzo, Megan Stalter, Paul W. Downs. Guest stars for this season include Helen Hunt, Christopher Lloyd, George Wallace, Tony Goldwyn, and Christina Hendricks.
Hacks season 3 premieres on MAX on May 2nd.
Outer Range, our favorite show about holes, will return to Prime Video for Season 2 next month. Josh Brolin stars as the Abbott Family patriarch. He’s joined by returning cast members Lili Taylor, Imogen Poots, Tamara Podemski, and Lewis Pullman. This season some secrets of the ooze that bubbles up from the mysterious hole in the ground will be revealed.
Outer Range Season 2 begins on May 16th only on Prime.
Congratulations hate-watchers. You manifested a second season for MAX’s animated Velma. Blerg. In case you missed it, I was not a fan of Season 1. The voice actors for this season include Mindy Kaling as Velma, Constance Wu as Daphne, Sam Richardson as Norville (aka Shaggy), and Glenn Howerton as Fred. The cast also includes some of my favorites so I’m very disappointed in the following people: Melissa Fumero, Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Cherry Jones, Nicole Byer, and Gary Cole.
Frank Welker gets a forever pass though. Carry on, Frank.
The 10-episode second season begins on MAX on April 25th.
In further abominations that no one should ever watch under any circumstances I give you the most uncanny valley weirdness I’ve ever seen as this week’s laginappe.
TCL is an electronics company known mostly for making televisions. They’ve decided to dabble in content creation by putting together an AI-generated love story that will only be available on TCL+, the broadcast channel embedded in all TCL TVs. Check your devices, people.
According to Broadcast + Media Chris Regina, chief content officer for TCL swears the company isn’t trying to replace people. They’re just excited about new technology and how it enables them to produce original content. I don’t believe him. Also, this looks like dookie. So let’s watch the trailer and then never speak of this again.
