Sunday
Tulsa King Season finale (Paramount+) — As I am a Dad, I am obligated to watch this. But I am not obligated to write about it, so I typically do not. Not a ton to say about this season, anyway. Robert Patrick continues to be great wherever he goes. Likewise, I’m watching Mayor of Kingstown (also Sundays) at this point for the non-Renner cast: Laura Benanti, Edie Falco, and a longtime favorite, Lennie James.
Welcome to Derry/The Chair Company/I Love LA (HBO Max) — I would say all three HBO Max Sunday night shows are mediocre to decent at this point in their respective seasons. Hoping for more.
Tuesday
All’s Fair (Hulu) — The worst show of the year, if you’re into punishing yourself (we kind of are).
Dancing with the Stars (ABC) — Is this the week that Andy Richter goes home? The math suggests not.
Squid Game: The Challenge (Netflix) — Did anyone watch the first half last week? I didn’t. Hadn’t heard any buzz, either. The second half premieres this week.
Wednesday
Palm Royale Season 2 (Apple TV+)— We really didn’t care for the first season, but with this cast, I have to at least see if it improves in season 2.
Thursday
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Season 3 Premiere — My favorite of the reality shows (non-competition), and this season should have lots of drama with Jenn Affleck and Whitney Leavitt on Dancing with the Stars and Taylor Frankie Paul headed to The Bachelorette. I expect a lot of jealousy and pettiness.
The Beast in Me (Netflix) — The premiere of the week, about an author (Claire Danes) who lost her son and becomes obsessed with a new neighbor (Matthew Rhys), who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance.
Taskmaster Season 10 Finale (YouTube) — I’m behind on this season (it’s a family show we save for the holidays), but I’ll put the finale on your radar in case you, too, need to catch up.
Friday
Malice Series Premiere (Prime Video) — Haven’t heard anything about this one — a British series about a male nanny who works for a wealthy family but may not have good intentions — but it does have a decent cast: David Duchovny, Carice van Houten and Jack Whitehall.
Pluribus (Apple TV+) — The premiere of the most anticipated show of the year did not disappoint. More on that tomorrow.
Running Man — Can Glen Powell continue his box-office hot streak? Probably. This looks pretty fun.
Now You See Me 3 — I’m probably the only person in America excited about this (the first two movies crushed in China), but I’m a sucker for this franchise.
Saturday
Saturday Night Live — The 51st season has not found its groove. At all. Hopefully, Charli XCX — as host and musical guest — can finally turn things around.
