I’ve powered through the first six seasons of Riverdale, and even once wrote an insane recap that many of our readers didn’t know I completely made up. Given the show’s history, who would bat an eyelash over an episode where unpaid library fines turn the town into serial killers?
The seventh and final season appears to be making something of a (necessary) soft reset. The series has always had a ’50s aesthetic, and now it will actually be set in the 1950s. Specifically, Archie, Betty, Veronica, and Co. will time travel to the 1950s, where they will once again be high-school juniors. Jughead, however, is the only character who knows they have time traveled.
At the very least, it will give the series an opportunity to mix and match couples (Archie and Cheryl? Betty and Kevin?), which will surely piss off the Barchie fandom. Anything that pisses off the Barchie fandom is A-OK in my book.
Riverdale returns on March 29th, and god help me, I’ll be here for it.
