The finale of Love Is Blind season five dropped yesterday and, guys … it’s bleak.
To recap: only three couples made it out of the pods this time, and one of those couples broke up on the post-pods trip to Mexico. So, for the rest of the season, we were really only following two couples. Those couples were Milton and Lydia, and Izzy and Stacy.
Let’s start with the boring news: Izzy said “I do,” at his wedding to Stacy. Still, she said some version of “I don’t want to marry you but I think I want to keep dating you,” which Izzy seemed fine with in the moment (they even shared a passionate kiss at the altar), but then later they talked again and Izzy was like, “Wait a minute, huh?” Stacy’s reasoning, which came out in an earlier argument, was that Izzy had a bad credit score and lied to her about it. The two have since separately hinted that they are still together.
Fine, cool, whatever. Let’s get to what we’re all really here for: Milton and Lydia.
I’ve made it clear how I feel about Milton, but I want to note that since I last wrote about him there has been some Lydia slander and I’m not about it. The conversation between Milton and Lydia on their last date at the gem museum made me a little uncomfortable because Milton kept harping on how “emotional” Lydia was. Granted, Lydia does not always handle herself well during conflict, but I’m not a fan of the rational scientist guy criticizing women for having feelings trope. However, I don’t think Milton thinks of Lydia’s emotional personality as a weakness, per se, and she did put him in a difficult position with the whole Uche thing, which he handled gracefully.
Anyway, they both said yes on the wedding day and got married. Huzzah! Jubilation!
But wait. They don’t follow each other on Instagram. *Cue dramatic whomp whomp music*
Now, that doesn’t necessarily confirm that they’re not together; they could just be waiting for after the reunion because of everything that went down about Lydia’s Instagram habits with Uche … but … I mean … yeah … it doesn’t look good.
The reunion airs this Sunday on Netflix, so I guess we’ll find out. Thankfully, it is not live, so we don’t have to relive the internet waiting room from Hell like last time. Based on the gowns alone, I think it’s gonna be good.
