Cold Open — Mikey Day is a great Jim Jordan, licking his wounds after losing three rounds of votes. Bowen Yang is back as George Santos with the mysterious baby. Chloe Fineman plays Lauren Boebert, who gets groped during a stage performance of Alladin. Everything was going just fine, and then James Austin Johnson brought out his Trump, and then it becomes a Trump sketch. Boo. (Watch Here) (Score: 4 out of 10)
Bad Bunny Monologue — I am not particularly familiar with Bad Bunny, whose first language is Spanish, and so he brings out a friend to help translate: Pedro Pascal. Now we’re cooking. Bad Bunny seems fairly charming, too. But also, I hope we see a lot of Pascal. (Spoiler Alert: We do). (Score: 6 out of 10)
Rap Battle — It’s a rap-insult battle, and Walter Whiteboy — who knows he’s outmatched — decides to insult himself to take away Bad Bunny’s power, but he goes overboard and Bad Bunny just feels bad for him. Weird to have Bad Bunny in a rap sketch and not actually rap, but it’s OK! (Watch Here) (Score: 5.5 out of 10)
Age of Discovery — The sketch, entirely in Spanish, sees two Spanish explorers (including Fred Armisen) explain to the King of Spain all of what they discovered in America. The King is not impressed with a turkey, tomato, pumpkin (“a herpes melon”), or llamas … but they like the cigars. This is good. Also, the Mat sketch of the week, because he can show it in his history class. (Score: 7 out of 10)
Telenova — It’s been impressive how they’re writing sketches for a Spanish speaker (and giving Marcello Hernandez a lot of screen time). This one is a telenovela where Punkie Johnson plays a maid who doesn’t speak Spanish and ruins every scene. I love the novelty of these sketches. I have no idea what the hell Mick f**king Jaggar is doing in it, though. (Score: 6 out of 10)
Please Don’t Destroy — Bad Bunny walks into the Please Don’t Destroy office where a Shrek outfit and the sketch basically goes from there. It’s bizarre but also … terrific? I think I like Bad Bunny? Maybe a lot. I rarely like the Please Don’t Destroy videos, but this one is bussin’. (Score: 7.5 out of 10)
Weekend Update — Che and Jost’s political jokes are OK; Ego does a segment as Jada Pinkett Smith and continues humiliating poor Will Smith; while the weird and wacky jokes are excellent. (Score: 7 out of 10)
Protective Mom — Marcello Hernandez is in another sketch! He brings his white girlfriend home to meet his Spanish family, and it does not go well (I think they did this sketch when Pedro hosted). It’s fantastic. (Score: 7.5 out of 10)
The Right Track — In a pretape, two men — a homeless guy and a Wall Street broker — have a heavy, solemn “job interview” in a subway terminal while some crazy sh** goes down on the subway train behind them. (Score: 6.5 out of 10)
Sister Act 3 — There’s a man posing as a nun trying to sleep with other nuns, and it’s definitely not Bad Bunny, and the nuns definitely do not like it. Not one bit. My God, Sarah Sherman: The Joey Chestnut joke! Mick Jagger makes another appearance. (Score: 6 out of 10)
Burt’s Bees — Burt’s Bees employees discuss potential layoffs after being bought out. One employee, Enrique, keeps interrupting to talk about his daughter’s marriage to Jeff, who works at Google. Even great shows have bad sketches. (Watch Here) (Score: 2 out of 10)
