The Emmy nominations were announced earlier today, and as always, there were snubs. With more great shows on television, there’s more opportunities for snubs. These, however, were the most egregious among them (with helpful recommendations of who we would have replaced among the nominees to add them).
Catastrophe and You’re the Worst for Best Comedy (cut Modern Family and Transparent and move Transparent into the drama category)
David Tennant, Best Supporting Actor, Drama for Jessica Jones (cut Jon Voight for Ray Donovan)
Alison Wright, Best Supporting Actress, Drama for The Americans (cut Emilia Clarke, who plays a great character, but who is not a great actress)
Rhea Seehorn, Best Supporting Actress, Drama for Better Call Saul (cut Dame Maggie Smith, who phones it in on Downton Abbey)
Oscar Isaac, Best Actor for Limited Series, Show Me a Hero. (Cut Cuba Gooding, Jr., who was actually terrible in The People vs. OJ Simpson)
Bojack Horseman, for Best Animated Series. (cut The Simpsons)
The Leftovers for Best Drama (cut Downton Abbey)
Rachel Bloom, Best Actress, Comedy for Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (cut Amy Schumer, who had an off year on Inside Amy Schumer)
Aya Cash, Best Actress Comedy for You’re the Worst (cut Laurie Metcalf for Getting On)
Carrie Coon, Best Supporting Actress, The Leftovers (we’ll let
Regina King’s snub slide because she was nominated for American Crime (cut Maura Tierney for the middling The Affair)
Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Best Variety Show (cut Real Time with Bill Maher)
