I’m not going to say that Stephen Colbert just ruined my childhood. That would be incredibly hyperbolic and besides, being chubby and having glasses ruined my childhood. However, the Colbert crew did just make it difficult to hear the theme song to the 1980s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon the same way ever again.

Despite what everyone would want, COVID-19 isn’t gone yet. Not only is it not gone, it’s mutating! The variant of the deadly disease made its way to NYC and is making things scary yet again. The easiest way to deal with abject terror is laughter! Right?! Well, Colbert to the rescue!

Gone are Donatello, Raphael, Leonardo, and Michelangelo! Here to stay are four deadly, animated viruses! There’s lots of funny packed into this short video. It plays on everyone’s blasé attitude, throws in a little guilt, and even manages to take a well-deserved shot at disgraced Governor Andrew Cuomo!

So, ya know, enjoy! Things are certainly scary but at least we’ve got this to laugh about while we’re not sitting in the shower, clad only in cutoffs, crying and wondering why people think it’s suddenly fine to go to basketball games! … excuse me for a moment.
