There are two things I love, Paul McCartney and mocking current President Donald Trump and the stupid, reckless and irresponsible things that he says and does. Well, apparently James Corden has been listening to my innermost thoughts and honestly, that’s OK.
Last night, the host of The Late, Late Show delivered a song parody about Trump’s recent weekend sojourn at Walter Reed Medical Center. Y’all, it’s pretty friggin fantastic.
Corden, no stranger to singing, sat at a piano and performed “Maybe I’m Immune.” The song includes sound bites from Trump and his doctor, and is filled with hilarious lines like, “Maybe I’m a man or maybe I don’t wear a mask cause I don’t care about others,” and “Maybe I’m immune to the way the polls are looking now. Maybe I’m afraid that it’s not fake news.” All set to the tune of “Maybe I’m Amazed,” by Paul McCartney.
Not only is the song funny, but DAMN can Corden sing. This shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone but it was certainly refreshing. The bit comes across as a perfect blend of musical and comedic talent. He really puts his heart and soul into it, so not only are you laughing, you’re bopping along throughout. It was a performance that, and I don’t say this lightly, would make Weird Al proud.
That may be the highest praise I’ve ever given another human being… and I stand by it.
At this point, I think I’ve watched this five or six times. Just waiting for it to be available on iTunes, James! Don’t let me down!!
