The 50th season of SNL is set to premiere in less than three weeks (and has not yet announced a host), but the show is making a few more tweaks to its roster. I usually have a good sense of who is staying and who is going — though I am a big fan, it was not a surprise when it was announced that Punkie Johnson and Molly Kearney were leaving the series — but this one is a real head-scratcher.

Newbie Chloe Troast announced on Instagram last night that she was not asked back for the forthcoming season.

That’s a genuine heartbreaker because Troast left an impression after only one season — she was the funny singing lady! — and it would’ve been nice to see her develop.

Meanwhile, instead of thinning the ranks with what is already a fairly large cast, SNL has replaced Chloe, Punkie, and Molly with three new featured players, Ashley Padilla, Emil Wakim and Jane Wickline pictured here via TVLine:

Padilla was a member of The Groundlings, Wakim is a stand-up comedian, and Wickline has performed on a sketch comedy tour and a TikTok show.

As is custom after two seasons, featured players Marcello Hernández, Michael Longfellow, and Devon Walker have been elevated to the main cast.

Here’s new featured player, Lebanese-American Emil Wakim, on The Tonight Show.

Finally, we’ll always have Little Orphan Cassidy, Chloe!

You get back to having sex with gay gargoyles like it’s your job, Chloe! You’re going to be alright!
